Paper, glue, designs, color and a little ingenuity. That’s the recipe for a unique personal statement through the art of colláge. All the ingredients will be at the Newport Public Library’s Teen Third Thursday program on January 17th from 3:45 to 5:30.
Colláge, from the French word coller (which means to glue), is an art form where multiple pieces of paper with varying images (traditionally) are glued together to create a new image. One might choose old photos, magazine ads, words or individual letters, as well as pages from discarded library books! You might choose to make a colláge exclusively with images of dogs, or only choose photos in shades of blue.
Why not stop by to see what we have on hand. Make something special that you can hang on your own wall at home, give away as a Valentine’s card next month, or we will display it here in the “Young Adult” area upstairs for our own patrons to appreciate.
Please call ahead, 541-265-2153, so we know to expect you, and sign up a friend at the same time. Maybe you will be lucky enough to win our randomly chosen attendance prize! We will provide the necessary supplies for our crafts and food for all who participate. All you need to bring is your good energy and creative spirit!
