Time is Running Out to Purchase Raffle Tickets for Donated Painting
Becky Miller, an artist whose studio is located in Toledo, is issuing one last plea for people to buy raffle tickets for a painting she has donated to Bright Horizons Therapeutic Riding Center. The painting, entitled “Donder’s Bright Horizon,” depicts one of the nonprofit’s therapeutic horses, and is valued at $3000.
One lucky winner will be drawn on Saturday evening, February 9 at the “Hearts for Horses” Annual Benefit and Auction, to be held at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. “Tickets for the raffle are a mere $10 each,” says Becky. “That is a small and painless donation to make to a truly great organization that is run by volunteers who work every day to bring happiness to people with disabilities.”
Becky was inspired to donate the painting because the organization reminds her of her childhood. “My youngest aunt, Debby Horning, had Downs Syndrome. She and I were only five years apart, so we grew up together. My grandfather took us horseback riding every weekend while I was growing up. I know first hand how much good it did for Debby and am so happy to have an opportunity to help bring this kind of joy to others who are suffering from disabilities.”
The painting has been on display at Becky Miller Studio for several months but will now be shown at Pig Feathers BBQ, 300 S. Main Street until the auction, where tickets are available for sale. For more information, call Becky at (503) 504-7289 or see brighthorizonsriding.org.
