Depoe Bay installing tsunami sirens
Wendy Mason caught a glimpse of work crews installing one of Depoe Bay’s new tsunami warning sirens which will be quite handy in the event of a distant (Alaskan) earthquake that will give residents a lot of warning to run to higher ground. An offshore Oregonian Cascadian Subduction Zone earthquake will be all the “wake-you-up-and-throw-you-out-of-bed” warning you’ll need after a 9.0 Richter.
Once installed, along with their electronic controllers, they’ll be tested. They run from up near WorldMark to Little Whale Cove.
