Highway 101 is back open with no lane restrictions.
Two women died Sunday morning in a freak traffic collision on Highway 101, just north of Waldport. Oregon State Police troopers say a large pickup, driven by Spencer Foley, 23, of Toledo was southbound on 101 when his flatbed trailer, loaded with a large Polaris off-road vehicle, began fish-tailing side to side. The trailer separated from the pickup and went over into the northbound lane when it collided with a Toyota Sienna occupied by two women. In an instant the off road vehicle continued into the Sienna, killing both women inside. Both women were using safety restraints and their air bags deployed. The OSP identified them as driver Suzanne Aiken, 69 and her mother Loise Raether, 94, both from Yachats.
In the pickup, Foley was not injured, nor was his wife Bobbi, 23, and their two year old son.
