Another BIG BLOW coming at us Sunday afternoon through Monday morning – Winds gusting to 75 mph!

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM SUNDAY TO 10 AM PST MONDAY.

* WINDS: ON BEACHES AND HEADLANDS…SOUTH WIND WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BECOME SOUTH 35 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS 65 TO 75 MPH. WINDS WILL TURN WEST TO SOUTHWEST LATER SUNDAY NIGHT…BUT REMAIN STRONG WITH GUSTS 60 TO 65 MPH.

* WINDS: COASTAL INTERIOR…SOUTH WIND WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BECOME SOUTH 30 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS 55 TO 65 MPH. WINDS WILL TURN WEST TO SOUTHWEST LATER SUNDAY NIGHT…BUT REMAIN STRONG WITH GUSTS 50 TO 60 MPH.

* TIMING: AFTER 1 PM SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE BETWEEN 4 PM AND 9 PM SUNDAY. ANOTHER ROUND OF STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL OCCUR BETWEEN 3 AM AND 8 AM MONDAY BUT THESE WILL BE WESTERLY AND FOCUSED ON THE SOUTH WASHINGTON AND NORTH OREGON COAST. (That’s us!)

* IMPACTS: POWER DISRUPTIONS ARE POSSIBLE. DAMAGE TO TREES IN WIND EXPOSED AREAS MAY ALSO OCCUR. THOSE WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES NEED TO BE PREPARE FOR SUDDEN STRONG WIND GUSTS…ESPECIALLY ON EXPOSED HEADLANDS (and going over bridges, like the YAQUINA BAY BRIDGE, NEWPORT!!)
