JC Market Thriftways in Lincoln County have a long history of donations and other assistance to families and youth sports from Lincoln City to Yachats. And they’re doing it again this Thanksgiving. They’ve come up with a plan to funnel more critically needed food into Food Share, Lincoln County’s food bank.
JC Market is calling it “Kidsgiving” Food Bank Drive and runs from October 29th through November 15th. All shoppers have to do is come in, buy a bag of groceries for $10 (which has up to $20 worth of food in it) and it’s delivered to Food Share. Our donations are critically important because Food Share’s federal food donations have been cut substantially due to federal budget problems.
Those who donate the $10 bag of groceries are given a “Thank You Coupon Flyer” for FIVE “Hot” coupons to be used at their next visit to JC Markets/Thriftway. The coupons are good through the end of November.
JC Market’s Lyle Mattson says the program debuted today without much fanfare and already shoppers are scooping them up. Mattson said “We’re delighted that the program shows such promise especially with so many families in need this Thanksgiving.”
“Kidsgiving” is available at JC Markets in Newport and Toledo and the Thriftway at Lincoln Beach.
