The Newport Symphony Orchestra is ringing in the holiday season with a Holiday Home Tour in Newport. This special fundraiser for the Symphony inspires and shares the beauty of the season. Visitors will be invited to tour four homes decorated for the holidays, hear music fitting the occasion, and indulge in flavors of the season at the Tour’s bake sale.
The event will be held Saturday, December 8th between 10 am and 4 pm and again on Sunday, December 9th between noon and 4 pm. Proceeds from the tour will help fund Newport Symphony Orchestra activities.
The tour will feature homes perched on the Beverly Beach Bluffs, overlooking the ocean from Agate Beach, as well as others with panoramas of Newport’s Yaquina Bay. The Beverly Beach Home will have a decorative theme combining traditional elegance with a touch of whimsy. A 12-foot flocked tree with large red and white floral and crystal accents will create a magical centerpiece. Decorated by Shannon Rackowski of ReDo Designs, this home will display an eclectic Santa theme fitting the cottage. Next door is the Ernest Bloch House — now named Sea Krest Lodge by its current owner, was once home to renowned Swiss-American composer Ernest Bloch. Large fir trees surround the residence with its stunning view of Agate Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Decorator Betty Stier will create a musical theme with red and gold accents as a tribute to the Newport Symphony. Special wreaths created by Charisma Gifts of Nye Beach will also adorn the home. The bay view residence with its panoramic view of Yaquina Bay will be decorated with a nautical theme of shimmering blues, greens, and silver befitting the holiday season.
Musical ambiance throughout the tours will be provided by vocal and instrumental musicians. As part of the fundraiser, visitors will be able to buy delicious holiday treats from a bake sale and the limited edition Conductor’s Reserve wine created by Flying Dutchman Winery for their holiday entertaining.
The Newport Symphony Orchestra brings the rich experience of symphonic music to our community. Its members and conductor, Adam Flat, work with students in our local schools to help them gain an understanding and appreciation for symphonic music. A portion of the funds will also be contributed to the Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $18 per person in advance and $20 the days of the tour. Tickets will go on sale November 1st at JC Markets in Newport and Toledo and at the Newport Performing Arts Center box office. Tickets will be available at the Ernest Bloch House located at the south end of the Roby’s parking area on US 101 the days of the Tour.
