From United States Forest Service, Siuslaw National Forest
Florence, Ore – At the end of the month Forest Service employees and services located at the Florence office will relocate to Waldport and Reedsport.
“With a combination of employee retirements in Florence, an expiring lease for our office and a minimum number of employees located there, it was time to shift services to our Reedsport and Waldport offices,” said Michele Jones, District Ranger for the Central Coast Ranger District and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
Beginning October 31, special forest product permits, which include firewood, mushrooms, moss, transplants, Christmas trees, cones, and boughs, will be sold at the Reedsport and Waldport Forest Service offices during business hours.
A special forest product permit is required whenever you plan to sell forest products. Also, some products are rare enough or in high enough demand that they also require a permit.
Recreation permits and maps can be purchased at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, Waldport and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area visitor center in Reedsport during business hours.
“All of these places offer convenient services within driving distances of Florence,” said Jones. “We may, in addition, find some way to partner to find an additional way to offer permits to people who can’t make it to Waldport and Reedsport.”
