Authorities say the body of Kyle Wallace, 20, of Siletz has been found on a beach in Tillamook County. Wallace, who was wanted on a number of charges, including attempting to elude officers, was last seen fleeing a traffic stop on the night of September 24th near Depoe Bay. The chase ended when the OSP officer found Wallace’s car abandoned near Otter Crest. Officers searched the area but found no sign of him. The area was full of heavy brush just beyond which were high cliffs overlooking the ocean below. It was pitch dark at the time.
Wallace was wanted for a parole violation among other warrants for his arrest, including attempt to elude. Wallace led a Toledo-Siletz Police Officer on a chase from Siletz to Newport earlier this year. Reports said that Wallace had hit a pedestrian in Siletz but failed to stop to render aid. His SUV was later spotted near the intersection of highways 229 and 20. The officer tried to pull Wallace over but Wallace sped off, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph as he reached Newport. Newport Police gave chase through Newport before Wallace lost control and hit a power pole off the north end of northwest Nye. When they caught up to the SUV they found no sign of Wallace. Meanwhile it was determined that the pedestrian back in Siletz was not seriously injured.
An all points bulletin was issued by the OSP soon after the Otter Crest chase asking anyone who knew of Wallace’s whereabouts or where he might be hiding to call OSP.
