During the week of October 12th, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in Corvallis reported yet another scam aimed elderly residents in their county, immediately east of Lincoln County. Benton County deputies received multiple reports of an asphalt paving scheme which seems to be targeting elderly victims. The company name being used by the subjects is “Joel’s Paving”.
These scammers have walked up to the front door of elderly home owners to make them an unbelievably good offer to have their driveways paved. Once the job is complete, they jack the bill way up. Deputies say these scammers use heavy intimidation tactics when demanding payment from their elderly victims.
There is currently no information on where this company is based, and it appears they have done this in other states as well. The subjects participating in this scam are reportedly operating new Chevrolet trucks with no signs or logos on the side.
The Lincoln County Sheriffs Office is warning Lincoln County residents of this scam. Anyone with information related to this or similar scams is asked to contact their local law enforcement agencies. To report such suspicious activity in Lincoln County call 541-265-4277, extension 7117.
