The following is a campaign message from Lincoln County Sheriff Dennis Dotson:
My name is Dennis Dotson and I am your Sheriff. I have been your Sheriff for more than nine (9) years and during that time we have experienced some good times and some bad times.
People need jobs; we need to continue to support our schools; we need to make our businesses stronger; and we need to make our communities safer. Safe communities are good for business. People don’t want to live in communities that aren’t safe. People don’t want to send their children to schools that aren’t safe. People don’t want to start a business, visit and recreate in places that aren’t safe. That’s where strong and professional law enforcement comes into play.
Your Sheriff’s Office has worked hard to make our county a safer place to live, educate our children, work, have a business, and recreate. Under my leadership your Sheriff’s Office has partnered with organizations and many of our citizens to address community concerns.
Under my leadership:
We have increased the capacity of your jail to hold more dangerous offenders.
We have introduced a great deal of technology to keep the rising operational costs of your jail to a minimum.
We have reached out to our citizens with information to make you and your families safer.
The Tip of the Week has provided important safety and security information since 2003.
Since 2006, my weekly radio program has provided information to listeners about Sheriff’s Office services and other important services provided by other organizations in this county.
I have hosted more than a dozen community meetings since 2006 and we have attended many more upon invitation. Citizens hear about Sheriff’s Office services and are able to share their ideas and feedback directly to their Sheriff.
Selecting the right people to fulfill the responsibilities of a deputy is paramount. Selecting the right people for the right positions in your Sheriff’s Office is also important.
Your Sheriff’s Office has been involved in succession training for many years.
The reason for this is that the citizens of Lincoln County should not have to settle for mediocrity in their Sheriff’s Office leaders.
Leadership is having a vision of the future and the ability to motivate others to achieve that vision.
I am the only candidate for Sheriff who possesses and has demonstrated those abilities.
Earning Your Trust, Producing Results, and Keeping You Safe is what your Sheriff’s Office is about and will remain so, as long I am your Sheriff.
I am asking for your vote in the coming election to continue to serve as your Sheriff.
