California man rescued from roadside blackberries after being stuck in them all night off Highway 18
An elderly California visitor who went missing from his family’s house off Highway 18 last night, was found this morning completely snared in thick blackberry bushes off Widow Creek Road.
A full Lincoln County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue operation was activated at dawn. Several hours later a sharp-eyed neighbor discovered Donald Crispin, 65, down a steep embankment off Widow Creek Road stuck in a blackberry thicket, located about a third of a mile from his family’s house. He couldn’t move. The neighbor managed to put jackets over the top of him pending the arrival of Search and Rescue personnel who were searching in another area at the time of the discovery.
Upon arrival, rescuers lowered themselves down the embankment and freed Mr. Crispin from the bushes. Mr. Crispin was immediately transported to North Lincoln Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Lincoln County Search and Rescue was assisted by North Lincoln Fire/Rescue.
