The owner of this boat went the extra mile to bring back some fresh crab for a wedding party on the beach. But a not so funny thing happened on the way out to sea. The boat skipper got disoriented in the fog and ran aground. They figured they’d wait until midnight (next high tide) to refloat the boat but the Coast Guard said no, due to powerful wave action typical for that area off Waziata.
So a boat passenger and Yachats Fire Chief Frankie Petrick are seen here making sure the boat is well taken care of until a “boat” oriented tow truck with fat tires can come up from Florence. They’ll slap a trailer under the boat, and then beat it south along the beach to Patterson Park and pull it up to the road.
With several lifetimes of witnessing injury, death and destruction, it does a heart good to see Frankie relaxing, if not enjoying her current assignment. Just tell the tow truck driver to keep it at the speed limit while enroute to the scene.
