A drive-by T-bone crash near Ona Beach injured one person, sending him to PCH in Newport Friday afternoon. Oregon State Police say the van that the victim was driving was headed south on 101, right at the top of the hill just south of Ona Beach. At Huckleberry, a big pickup pulled out onto the highway, causing the van to swerve left, but not before glancing across the front of the pickup damaging the van’s entire right side.
OSP says pulling out onto Highway 101 can be challenging from a side street. Everyone needs to be very thorough when looking left and right for oncoming traffic before pulling onto the highway.
The driver of the pickup was expected to be cited for causing the accident – unsafe movement/failure to yield right of way.
