Lincoln County Commissioners have announced that due to verified reports of what they termed “inappropriate behavior” at his office, Lincoln County Surveyor Tom Hamilton has been locked out of his office and will be serving the remainder of his term elsewhere. The commissioners did not divulge the nature of the behavior nor in whose presence such behavior was exhibited, deeming the information confidential under personnel rules.
A phone call to Mr. Hamilton by News Lincoln County has thus far not been returned.
County Commissioner Bill Hall say Mr. Hamilton has served 24 years as Lincoln County Surveyor and learned earlier this year that the commission was changing his position from one that is elected to one that is appointed by the commission.
Commissioner Hall says Mr. Hamilton has the right to appeal the action taken against him but thus far has not given the commission a request for one.
