Muralist and all around artist Casey McEneny has scored another accolade for coming up with another visual invitation to visitors to south Lincoln County. Not content to do just the Waldport Centennial Mural visible on a downtown building for those traveling north, McEneny, a Newport High School art teacher, has produced a very attractive “Welcome to Waldport” sign. It was recently dedicated by the Chamber of Commerce (which paid for it), the Waldport City Council (which commissioned McEneny) and townspeople who admired it during its unveiling at a spot on Highway 101 across from Patterson State Park.
Admirers contend the beauty of the sign is contained in its clean lines, simple message and attractive layout of what Waldport is all about – great fishing, sightseeing, boating and dining, and all Where the Forest Meets the Sea.
Another sign is expected to be created and erected at the north end of Waldport – date to be announced.
