FREE COMPUTER CLASSES AT NEWPORT PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Newport Public Library will offer FREE classes the following classes during the month of September.
On Friday, September 7 at 9:00 a.m., Introduction to Computers will be taught. This FREE class will teach the basics of turning on a computer, using the mouse, and saving files. Beginning Internet will be taught at 10:00 p.m. This class teaches how to use a web browser, click on links, and search for information on the Internet.
A FREE class on Business and Phone Directory Databases will be taught at 9:00 a.m. on September 14. That class covers how to search the Gale Business databases for company profiles, rankings, and investment reports, and how to use the AtoZ Database to find businesses by name, industry, or location. Beginning Excel will be taught FREE at 10:00 a.m. This class teaches the basics of creating a spreadsheet and adding rows and columns.
Intermediate Excel will be offered FREE at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21. This class teaches how to balance a checkbook, use multiple worksheets, and create charts. At 10:00 a.m., a FREE class will cover how to use two library databases: Novelist and Learning Express. Novelist is used to find reading recommendations and books in series, while Learning Express offers online practice tests for school, career, and naturalization exams.
Beginning Word (2007) will be taught FREE on September 28 at 9:00 a.m. This class introduces people to the basic commands to create a word processing document. Intermediate Word will be taught FREE at 10:00 a.m. This class builds on the previous one, and teaches how to insert photographs, create lists using bullets and numbers, and set margins, tabs, and line spacing.
