A man who had just loaded up some primer paint in to his pick up lost a part of the load as he turned west on Highway 20 at John Moore/Fogarty. Police say they don’t think the driver realized he’d lost about 25 gallons of paint. They were able to determine where he bought the paid (it was right around the corner) and that’s where they learned who he was.
It’s believed the driver lives in Toledo and they’re over there trying to track him down. ODOT has put some sand on it, but since the paint has pretty much dried, they say they’ll sweep it up the best they can, but that there’s nothing more they can do. So, for a while everyone can be assured they’re on Highway 20 if they have a white splotch of paint ahead of them.
Erika Kelson came along right after the spill and a passing truck splattered paint onto the front, left side and back of her SUV. She took it to a car wash but it didn’t remove the paint. So she had to take it to a detail shop and wait a week for it to be cleaned. Erika Kelson is urged to call Newport Police because they know who spilled the paint and his/her insurance might cover your vehicle’s damage.
