At approximately 2:35 am Thursday morning, Officer Pitcher attempted to stop a red Chevy Blazer for a traffic violation. The Blazer failed to yield and traveled at a high rate of speed through the parking lot of Fir Crest Apartments.
Officers say the driver drove the Blazer up onto a curb between two of the complexes of Fir Crest, struck a support beam and continued down a grassy hill. The blazer continued from Fir Crest onto SE 10th St and SE Gaither at speeds estimated between 60-65 mph. The driver crashed the Blazer on SE Fir and fled the area on foot leaving behind a small puppy.
Several items were retrieved from the vehicle and taken into evidence for safekeeping. The abandoned puppy was transported to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Newport Oregon. A tow company was called to retrieve the vehicle.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. Anyone with any information concerning this incident is urged to call Toledo Police at 541-336-5555.
