A Tillamook Circuit Court judge has set the date on which Hamaraj Singh will enter a plea to charges of multiple rapes and sexual assaults allegedly committed with employees at his family owned grocery store in Tillamook. The case drew criticism from Depoe Bay residents when they heard that a condition of his bail was that he not be in contact with any of his victims and that he was to work at his family’s other store, the Center Market, in Depoe Bay under strict supervision. The judge also ordered that when Singh is not working he was to be confined to his family’s house in Depoe Bay. After an uproar in the community, Singh’s family suddenly announced that he was not working in their Depoe Bay store.
The judge set October 29th for his plea of either guilty, no contest or not guilty. Guilty or no contest will get him a quick sentencing. A not guilty plea will trigger a start day for his trial.
