Depoe Bay is a patriotic town here in Oregon, heavily influenced by the presence and performance of its Depoe Bay Coast Guard Station and of its prominent place in the history of the state.
So how come the only American Flag at city hall is flying on the inside of the building instead of on the outside? City Recorder Pury Murray says city hall has always had a flag up a flagpole, except for when it was taken down late last winter when its gigantic cement base was destroyed to make way for a new asphalt parking lot.
Today the parking lot is doing fine and so now some townspeople are calling on city hall to put the flag back up outside the main entrance. Murry said a flag restoration committee is handling the particulars. They say that Old Glory could once again be flapping in the world famous Depoe Bay breeze within a few weeks.
