Deputy Rene Lopez with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a black Plymouth Neon driving north on Hwy 101 in Lincoln City for a traffic violation. Deputy Lopez activated his emergency overhead lights, but the vehicle failed to yield and instead, turned west off Hwy 101 and quickly accelerated onto various residential streets in northwest Lincoln City.
Deputy Lopez initiated a pursuit with lights and siren and a short time later the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into a fence at the end of a roadway. The driver and his two passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards the beach. Their descriptions were relayed to officers’ from the Linoln City Police Department.
Lincoln City Police responded to the scene and located and detained the driver and one of his passengers. The driver, 29 year old Brent Maxwell Gordon, from Aumsville, OR, was found to have an outstanding, no-bail parole warrant for his arrest. A passenger with Gordon was interviewed and released. The crashed car was towed from scene.
Deputy Lopez took Gordon into custody and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on the no-bail warrant and the additional charges of Attempt to Elude a Police Officer (felony), Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering (2 counts), and Criminal Mischief II, with total bail set at $110,000.
