Fourth of July in Gleneden Beach was its typical way-fun affair that started out with a healthy breakfast, then a huge crafts faire and more food, and then a 4th of July Parade with a smattering of Pomp and Circumstance, a salute to America’s armed forces, especially the Coast Guard, and the full gamut of downhome and uptown floats. Lots of folks running for office in it. And if you’re a real local, you’ll figure out whose bowing out to be with her grand kids and who wants to rise to the State Senate.
And of course, at the end, the annual flyover of a U.S. Coast Guard Helo which isn’t on its way to another rescue. All it has to do was stay airborne and look good…which it did quite nicely.
Tonight it’s Lincoln City and Newport’s turn to shoot off fireworks.
