Teenage boy falls off a low cliff just south of Don Davis Park
On the beach near the Nye Beach Turnaround
Newport Fire/Rescue units raced to Don Davis Park late Monday night where a teen age boy fell off the cliff just south of Don Davis Park. He was reported to be on his back on the beach below.
He was reported to be, at one point, up and walking around. He was expected to be taken to PCH to be evaluated. Fire rescue officials say he was climbing on the rock face at the south end of Nye Beach when he lost his grip and fell about ten to twelve feet to the beach.
Rescue crews said it’s never a good idea to be crawling on cliffs due to moisture-softened rock and mud, and loose hand and toe holds…especially in the dark.
He and his family are staying at a hotel on Elizabeth Street.
