PhotoVoice 2012 Opening Exhibit this Saturday at Newport Farmers Market!
PhotoVoice is a creative project that shares the photos, stories and voices of youth experiencing homelessness in Lincoln County. Last Spring, four youth were given cameras to document their experiences and participate in 3 mentor-based workshops. The mentor- workshops were facilitated by local artist Casey McEneny and local photographer Bob Gibson. With contributing support from the Lincoln Commission on Children and Families.
The four Youth (2 girls and 2 boys) spent time in April and May recording their experiences through the lens of a camera for this unique and creative photo exhibit. Mutual goals of the PhotoVoice project is empowerment and advocacy. The exhibit intends to help raise public awareness about the need for community support for our youth and families who are experiencing homelessness. We also hope PhotoVoice will help inspire collective action for change and involvement throughout Lincoln County.
The Photo Exhibit will be open to the public this Saturday June 23rd at the Newport Farmers Market from 9am-1pm.
The PhotoVoice exhibit’s premiere display will take place on Friday, June 22nd during the Samaritan House Garden Gala Fundraiser at the Shilo Inn from 6-8pm.
