A female horse rider cheering on the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse charity ride was injured Sunday morning when her horse reportedly threw her. The woman complained of wide spread pain and an ambulance was summoned. A reader of News Lincoln County said that an OSP Trooper was on hand and radioed for help. An OSP Fish and Wildlife truck, with Newport Fire and Rescue personnel and paramedics aboard, transported the injured horsewoman to the ambulance.
The reader wanted to thank the OSP and others who came to the woman’s aid. Such personnel as Sheriff’s volunteers, Posse, CERT and SWAT often do very dangerous work and they can be seriously injured on the job or during training. Yet they bravely sign up to do their part. Next time you see a member of these uniformed officers and/or volunteers, you might thank them for what they do and for how they bravely face danger in the course of their professions and volunteer commitments.
