Japanese industrialists are back in Oregon, looking for places to expand their production

With much cheaper and even more reliable sources of electricity, a number of Japanese industrial manufacturers are touring sites in Oregon hoping to land deals that would see them grow their companies and hire local workers. The reason they’re not looking so much to China is that rising wages and the cost of doing business there is prompting Japanese companies to look at other countries to fill their needs. They say Japan’s own energy picture remains very clouded in that they have shut down 54 nuclear plants in the wake of last year’s earthquake and tsunami that struck Sendai Prefecture in March of last year.
