This is the weekend for the second annual Newport Celtic Festival and Highland Games. Lots of fun and events celebrating the Celtic culture that stretches from northern Spain clear up through France, England and Ireland…any where there is cloudy, rough seas, brisk winds, cool temperatures, and plenty of fish. Here’s some activities you can have fun with tonight.
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Irish Ceili Dance – Newport Rec Center
7:00 PM – 10:00 PM – Whisky Tasting Seminar – Stone Crest Cellar
9:00 PM – Gathering of the Clans Bonfire – Nye Beach-Postponed due to Weather.
Tomorrow there is the gathering of the clans at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, complete with pipe bands, highland games, great food, and more fun than any reasonable person could pack into a full weekend. For a complete list of events click here.
Here’s a wee bit of a foot race between some beach blown runners that helped launch this weekend’s Celtic events. Brad Taylor of Oregon Coast Productions caught one of the races down on the sands of Nye Beach late this afternoon.
