Dean Sawyer, Siletz Indians Emergency Management Planner reports that the Root Creek Bridge, 11 miles north of Siletz, will be shut down completely for repairs June 15 through June 18. There will be no through traffic. Motorists are directed to use Highway 20 to 101 or 101 to Highway 20 to access both ends of the Siletz Highway (229).
Sawyer says the north end of the Root Creek Bridge has been settling. ODOT crews will be jacking up that end of the span and re-inforcing the abuttment.
The span will be shut down Friday, June 15th at 9am and is expected to be reopened Monday, June 18 at 6am. But even then there will be only one lane of travel across the bridge. Watch for flaggers. Completion of the project is expected later in that week.
