Don’t always need rain for a rainbow…
A circle rainbow was captured today by Laurie Neary! Although there was no rain for a rainbow, it’s clear that there was moisture in the air between the upper atmosphere and the ground. Don Mullins told us that the ring-halo is caused by sunlight passing through high altitutde ice crystals in the atmosphere – NOT HUMIDITY! He says it is quite common in the colder months from autumn through early spring. He says that this coincides with the low pressure cold front that moved in last night.
By the way, we’re got a FROST WARNING TONIGHT! SO PROTECT YOUR SENSITIVE PLANTS!!
