The Yummy Bowl Restaurant on Newport’s Highway 101 at Neff Street held a Dine Out for Samaritan House fundraiser Wednesday night with brisk business through 6:30pm, according to the restaurant manager. Samaritan House is a temporary housing center for some of Lincoln County’s homeless families who are trying to get back on their feet but need housing assistance while they do it. The amount of proceeds from Dining Out restaurants is up to the individual restaurants but Samaritan House Director Lola Jones said that one restaurant reported that they have had one of their biggest customer nights with Dine Out.
Jones says participation for Dine Out fundraising has included Local Ocean, Chalet Restaurant and Bakery, Georgie’s Beachside Grill, Mo’s, Newport Cafe, Chowder Bowl, Nana’s Irish Pub, Yummy Bowl, and in June Flashbacks will conduct a Dine Out night as well. Jones says it will be the first extension of the Dine Out program into the summer. She said the program is likely to be extended to Lincoln City restaurants in the fall.
