Successor to Commissioner Don Lindly’s job will serve out the full remainder of Lindly’s term – until Dec. 31, 2014
Whoever is picked to replace retiring Lincoln County Commissioner Don Lindly will serve out the full remaining time of Lindly’s term, which ends December 31, 2014. The opinion came from County Counsel Wayne Belmont after he researched state codes and case law.
Under county law, the political party that Lindly belongs to is empowered to solicit candidates for the job and then pass the names of three to five candidates they prefer to the county commission for their consideration and decision. Candidates must have lived in the county for one year and have been a registered Democrat for at least 180 days prior to June 1st, the day Lindly steps down.
Those who would like to apply for the job can do so by obtaining an SEL 145 form at the county clerk’s office in the courthouse. Fill it out and make sure it’s in the hands of the Lincoln County Democratic Central Committee by 5pm, May 7th. The address of the committee is 3128 Highway 101, Lincoln City, 97367.
