The latest unemployment figures show that Lincoln County is much like the rest of the country. There are economic improvements, but they are not coming big enough or fast enough to raise up our local homeless families.
Lincoln City Homeless Connect is hoping that volunteers, from their heart and from their lives, will give of themselves for the second annual Project Homeless Connect event on May 17th in Lincoln City when the homeless gathers at St. Peter the Fisherman Lutheran Church.
They need YOU!
They need you to help guide the homeless through haircuts, dental care, social security, housing assistance, legal and state benefits that helps children who are not adequately clothed, who need nutritious food, whose precious dogs and kitties need sustenance and care.
Volunteers will also help with escorting the homeless who have been homeless so long they have fortgotten what they need.
The Project Homeless Connect event will run from 10a through 3pm May 17th. Those who can give of themselves and of their time can show up starting at 8:30am through 4pm, or half shifts from 8:30a to 1pm, or from 11:30am through 4pm.
Along with many friends and supporters, please give special recognition and thanks to the Siletz Indians Charitable Contribution Committee for their undying support for their fellow human beings…the Siltez….a people who so painfully know the hardship of becoming a displaced people, who lost their homeland but yet somehow preserved their collective human soul. To them we offer our most fervent prayers of gratitude.
Those who would like to volunteer can call 541-574-2684 or 541-265-9883.
