2012 Annual Sharon Branstiter Memorial Cleanup hosted by Toledo Main Street
Provided by Toledo Main Street
The Toledo Main Street organization is hosting the annual 2012 Sharon Branstiter Memorial Cleanup on Saturday April 28th from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are invited to hit the streets to pick up litter, weed sidewalks, and pressure wash surfaces throughout the downtown and along Main St. and Business Highway 20. Their hard work gets the town dusted off after the long, wet winter and looking good for the summer season.
Volunteer registration will begin at 9am with Marnie Branstiter in the Park and Ride Plaza at the intersection of Highway 20 and “A” Street, and with Sandy Blackman in the City Hall parking lot. Volunteers should bring cleaning/gardening supplies, gloves, and tools. Students will receive a community service certificate for their work.
This event is held annually in April to honor late mayor Sharon Branstiter, who often gardened in public areas to beautify the town. She began the flower basket program in Toledo, which has grown to include 130 baskets in public areas, all funded by private donations. This year’s flowers will arrive the first week of May.
