Registered voters will again have the right to select their leadership choices by mail in the Oregon Primary election in May.
The key word in that sentence is registered. The last date to register for this election is Tuesday, April 24. Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters between Friday, April 27 and Tuesday, May 1. To be counted, the completed ballot must be received at the elections department by 8 pm on Tuesday, May 15.
You can register to vote in one of three ways: 1) online at: www.co.lincoln.or.us/clerk, 2) by mailing in a registration form found at local libraries and DMV offices, or 3) in person at the county clerk’s office in the Lincoln County Courthouse on Olive Street in Newport.
You must re-register when 1) your residence or mailing address changes; 2)your name changes, or 3) if you wish to change your party affiliation. Many people forget to re-register when they move. The post office does not forward ballots. You can check onlne as to whether your registration is current. If you’re uncertain whether your voter registration is up to date, then re-register.
