Neighbors of a house in a neighborhood off 101 and NW 55th were getting concerned about passersby eyeing the empty house across the street. A few weeks ago, three teens tried to break into it. The neighbors called police and soon the kids were in custody. Then Friday night, the neighbors looked out the window again and saw two adult women going in and out of the the home. Neighbors said the women eventually brought out a number of household items in the dark and begin assembling them in the driveway. The neighbors got on the phone to police again, and a few minutes later police had surrounded the house.
Officers say they caught the two women red handed. The women were cuffed and placed in the back of two different police cars while officers went through items in the driveway and inspected the inside of the house.
Police say the suspects were identified as Rhonda Wright, 50 and Brenda West, 45, both from Newport. Police said they were booked into the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Burglary,Theft and Tresspass.
Officers say the home has been unoccupied for some time caused by a lengthy probate. Officers suggest that the estate’s attorney arrange for better security.
