Newport Airport Manager Gene Cossey is leaving his post as Newport Airport Manager and moving to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the job of Senior Manager of Airside Operations and Safety at the Cincinnati/North Kentucky International Airport.
In a news release from Newport city officials, “Cossey throughly enjoyed his time with the city and is proud of his many accomplishments and that he will miss Newport and the many friends he has made here.”
The release goes on to state that Cossey worked to bring Newport’s airport up to FAA standards, establishing regular employee training and put Newport in a competitive position for a nine million dollar federal grant for airport runway improvements.
Cossey’s last day on the job is April 20th. City Manager Jim Voetberg said he will soon begin recruiting Cossey’s replacement.
