The Lincoln County School District is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony at 5:30 pm, Wednesday, April 4, to launch the construction of the new Waldport High School! Waldport residents and school boosters are cordially invited to attend!
The ceremony will take place at the site of the future Waldport High School, directly south of Crestview Heights School, 2750 Crestline Drive. Attendees are asked to park in that school’s north parking lot and go through the building to the ceremony.
Construction on the new 56,000-square-foot high school will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion by July of next year. The construction manager/general contractor for the project is T. Gerding Construction Co. of Corvallis.
The existing high school is the last remaining public school in Lincoln County located within a tsunami zone. Built in 1958, the school includes six portable classrooms and is also vulnerable to earthquakes and flooding.
In addition to enhanced safety, relocating the high school between Crestview Heights School and Oregon Coast Community College’s south county campus, the site will promote a richly integrated, seamless educational environment for all Waldport area students.
Don’t miss this historic moment for education in South County. Groundbreaking for the new Waldport High School, Wednesday, April 4th, 5:30pm, immediately south of Crestview Heights School.
Funding for the new high school is being provided through the $63 million bond levy that county voters approved in May of last year.
