After a large landslide covered it just a quarter mile up from GP, Road and Driveway and Lincoln County Public Works crews have cleaned it up and have just reopened Yaquina Bay Road. The slide was a big one, coming straight down off the hillside, just south of an earlier slide that also scars the hill. You can see in the pictures that water is still flowing out of the hill itself and down the face of the slide. County public works put jersey barriers on the inside shoulder of the road to catch rocks and other debris that may come down as the hillside drains. Probably wouldn’t hurt to go slow through there so you can watch out and not unwittingly drive right into the path of something coming down; tree, rock or mud. And of course if there is a subsequent build up of material on the uphill side of the barriers, don’t hesitate to call Toledo Police at 336-5555 and give them the info.
