Lincoln County Sheriff’s investigators say a three year old child was attacked by a Labrador-Pit Bull mix in the back yard of a residence Wednesday on East Evans in Tidewater, east of Waldport. Investigators say the child suffered a bite wound to the face and was transported to the hospital in Newport for treatment of the wound. The wound was not life-threatening. No criminal or neglect charges are contemplated, according to the release. The dog was put in quarantine to determine whether it had rabies.
The child and its mother recently moved in with friends. At the time of the attack, the owners of the house and dog were not on premisis. It is exactly the same situation that befell a toddler in the Otter Crest area last year in which a mother and a child had moved in with a family that owned an American Bulldog that severely malled the child. In the Tidewater incident, the mother was inside the home, out of sight of the child. In the Otter Crest incident the child was inside but was in the kitchen, out of sight of the mother.
