State workers have an unpaid day off Friday
Most Oregon state offices, including circuit courts, will be closed Friday as part of state budget cutbacks which have mandat five furlough days in 2012.
Friday’s closure is the first one this year that state workers have been required to take as an unpaid day off, each day saving the state two million dollars.
Public safety will remain on the job, so Oregon State Troopers and prison personnel show up for work as usual. State parks also will stay open, as will state liquor stores.
