High winds are hammering the coast this afternoon. Some protective materials to shield a pending roof job at the Budget Inn in Lincoln City was swept away with the wind a short time ago. Lincoln City Police report that some of the roof’s flashing was also blown off.
The 76 Gas Station in Depoe Bay has been having a tough time with the wind…being up on the uphill side….the wind is catching the roof over the gas islands. Folks are nervously eyeing that situation. You can see from this picture taken by Brad Taylor that the roof is getting whip-sawed in the wind and the support posts are out of alignment. The gas portion of the business is obviously closed.
Lots of reports of downed trees, small signs being blown around. If you have a small, unsecured sign outside, get it inside as soon as you can. Those signs going 45 miles an hour can injure and even kill.
The winds are blowing pretty hard out there. If you don’t have to drive, don’t. The winds are expected to subside starting around 5pm so there will be plenty of time to get to the grocery store after the blow.
