KNPT’s bad luck with equipment continues, but hopefully this time it won’t be as long as it was last month. A truck with a boom snagged a telephone line this morning near King Salvage off Highway 20 and knocked the station off the air. The station studios in Newport are connected by phone line to their transmitter site just west of Toledo. Preliminary estimates of when KNPT might be back on the air vary from 8 to 10 hours, but hopefully sooner.
As a program note, the Newport Cubs game will be broadcast on KNPT’s sister FM station, KCRF at 96.7. The game is expected to begin between 3:15 and 3:30pm this afternoon.
