A number of Waldport Bayshore area residents have been fighting for years the “sand duning” of their homes on the south end of Bayshore Drive. Winter storms pick up the sand from the north and spread it south, inundating a group of homes near the Jaws of the Alsea River. Homes are nearly covered completely in an eerie scene that could well serve as the backdrop for a horror movie. And the problem, to be sure, has been horrific.
Neighbors appear to be launched on another quest to find a solution. If they can’t fool Mother Nature, they reason, maybe they can push her around a little.
