State passes bill that authorizes cash strapped timber counties to tap road funds to keep running
Coos, Curry, Douglas, Josephine, Klamath, Lane and Linn counties will be able to tap their respective road funds for overall operating capital pending the outcome of efforts to preserve federal funding cut off due to the decline in the sale of timber. The Oregon legislature has approved using road funds all the counties have accumulated over the years as temporary operating funds to stop some of them from falling into bankruptcy.
