New Release from MidCoast Watershed Council
Yaquina Estuary Conservation Plan
On Thursday, March 1, John Bauer, a GIS Analyst at The Wetlands Conservancy, will discuss the recently published “Yaquina Estuary Conservation Plan”. The plan prioritizes conservation needs and opportunities for the Lower Yaquina watershed from an ecological perspective. John Bauer is a GIS Analyst working at The Wetlands Conservancy, a land trust based in Tualatin, Oregon. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resources at the University of Nevada-Reno in 2006. He worked at The Nature Conservancy’s Oregon office for a year in the science and planning program. Since 2008, he has worked with The Wetlands Conservancy, first constructing a statewide wetlands database for Oregon for use in the Oregon Wetlands Explorer, then developing databases and tools for wetland restoration prioritization in the state of Oregon.
The Council regularly meets the first Thursday of each month, at 6:30 PM, at the Central Lincoln PUD in Newport. The PUD is located at 2129 North Coast Highway in Newport, across the highway from Safeway.
The Presentation will be followed by a business meeting. Light snacks will be served.
