Bridget Dix is retiring from her position as Executive Director of Samaritan House Family Homeless Shelter in Lincoln County at the end of February. She has served in this position for ten years.
An Open House in her honor will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 1 at the Visual Arts Center in Newport. Refreshments will be
served. The public is invited to join the Board of Directors in giving Bridget our thanks and good wishes.
Bridget was first elected to the Board of Directors of Samaritan House in August 1992 and was elected President of the Board in 1996. She served
several more years as President and was actively involved in the growth and development of the program from a volunteer-operated emergency shelter into the current full service program providing emergency and transitional housing, as well as counseling and educational services.
In 2002 she was hired as Executive Director and she has served in this position since that time, hiring and supervising staff, writing grants,
managing the physical facility, working with the board on fund-raising, and helping many homeless families rise from despair to hope as they move from Samaritan House into independent living.
