The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Vancouver man who was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend by the courts violated that order as he physically abused his girlfriend in Yachats and proceeded to choke her. In the process she stabbed him.
The girlfriend managed to get a call off to 9-1-1, after which deputies say Brandon Dyer fled the Aqua Vista Loop address and headed north on 101. Deputies caught up with him on Highway 34 at Broadway in Waldport. Central Coast paramedics treated Dyer’s stab wound. Because it was soon learned that Dyer caused physical injuries to his girlfriend, and that she stabbed him in self-defense, deputies arrested Dyer and lodged him in the Lincoln County Jail in Newport on charges of Felony Assault, Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Strangulation, Harassment, Reckless Endangering Another, Interfering with Filing a Report and for violating a no contact restraining order. Dyer is being held on $305,000 bail.
