Small earthquake rumbles 146 miles west Coos Bay 4:13am local time
Another small earthquake rumbled beneath the sea, nearly 150 miles west of Coos Bay this morning. The USGS estimated the strength of the quake at just 3.4 so it was likely not felt anywhere along the coast. The quake occurred in the same vicinity of a shaker on February 15th as a 6.0 richter. It was felt as a weak jolt from Bandon south to the Eureka, CA.
A USGS scientist described the earlier quake as originating in an area known for a lot of quakes that do no damage.
