Oregon lawmakers are getting down to the last nine days of this year’s short legislative session and the budget scalpels are starting to come out. In the past the strategy has been to go after assistance for the poor, the elderly and the disabled. But their supporters, and many others are admitting that any further serious cutting of what’s left of those services would be diluting those programs to where they nearly cease to exist.
